Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. company, announced on September 19, 2022 it has entered into a teaming agreement with Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), a global aerospace and national security company, for Bell’s High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) aircraft. As part of the collaboration, SNC will specifically support the design and development of mission systems for HSVTOL variants. Bell’s HSVTOL vehicles blend the hover capability of a helicopter with the speed, range and survivability features of fighter aircraft, with low downwash hover capability and jet-like speeds of more than 400 kts/460 mph/741 km/h. Latest Israeli Air Strike on Damascus International Airport Kills Five Syrian Soldiers: Fragile Defences Under Pressure

The Israeli Air Force in the early hours of September 17 launched an air strike on Damascus International Airport, marking the latest of several attacks on civilian airports in the country which critics have claimed are an attempt to stymie its post-war recovery. The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that "Our air defences intercepted hostile missiles in the airspace of Damascus and its countryside, shooting down a number of them," but conceded that five Syrian soldiers were killed in the attack. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Pakistan of F-16 Case for Sustainment and related equipment for an estimated cost of $450 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Pakistan has requested to consolidate prior F-16 sustainment and support cases to support the Pakistan Air Force F-16 fleet by reducing duplicate case activities and adding additional continued support elements. The United States Armed Forces revealed this Monday that it has sent two nuclear-capable B-52 bombers to fly over territories in the Middle East, in what they consider a show of force exercise, given the growing tensions between Washington and Iran.
